We may tease Dad about being a man of the 40’s but I am here to tell you that he is a grandpa of the 21st century! Josh and I went to Dallas last weekend to be wined and dined by BCG while Grandpa Larry came to Philly to be snowed-in in an itty bitty living space with our two little girls. Fortunately, the two little girls were thrilled about having the undivided attention of their Grampa. In fact, I’m pretty sure they never even noticed we were gone. When I called to check on things Saturday morning Dad had made crepes for breakfast and was in the middle of making a batch of peanut butter cookies. This is MY father. I was blown away. Actually, I guess I should put it this way: This is Kate’s Grandpa. Then it doesn’t seem so out of the ordinary. The most amazing thing to me was that after we returned home Dad would catch Jane doing her potty dance before I would and run her up to the bathroom. He cleaned up the kitchen while I was putting the girls in bed and did his own laundry. I tried everything I could to convince him to stay and live with us forever. Kate even said please with her puppy dog eyes and a protruding bottom lip. I think we would have stood a chance if his patients hadn’t started calling and asking when he would be back.

It is now official that we are going to BCG Dallas this summer. Josh signed on Saturday evening. Just what I always wanted to do--spend the SUMMER in Texas. ☺ It was nice to have a chance to go to Dallas, see the office, and ask all the direct questions we could think of. They treated us extremely well, but I think we got a pretty realistic picture of the BCG culture at the same time. The work itself will be really exciting, intense but exciting. And the company, as strange as this may sound for a consulting firm, seems to be very family friendly. That is one big advantage of the Dallas office. Josh has been almost silly since he signed. I think having the burden of finding an internship off his shoulders has left him feeling more foot loose and fancy free than he has felt since we moved here. We feel really blessed to have such a great offer.

Kate’s latest pretend world is all about mermaids. She and Jane get on their tummies and push themselves around the floor pretending to swim. After an hour of imaginative mermaid play one evening Kate started singing to herself, “I am a mermaid of God.” I don’t think Heavenly Father would mind that.
We squeezed in a few adventures during the 24 hours we had with my Dad after we returned from Texas. We pulled off a game night, a gospel discussion, a trip to Longwood Gardens, a stint at the Please Touch Museum, and a trip to Costco. We did want him to feel like he had been to Philadelphia. I do think, however, that the best part of the week for him and the girls was while we were away.

Next week is Spring Break. We are going to take Josh on a tour of Philly. I tease him that we live in Philadelphia, but he lives at Wharton. We’ll see what he thinks of our city.

We're so excited for you and Josh! Not so much for TX inthe summer, but just that you've got something in the way of an internship. Great, great news. Your Dad is amazing!
Congratulations on the internship! That is great news. We really enjoyed Houston when we lived there. We had a lot of fun visiting Brad and Corie while they were in Dallas. It is hot in the summer, but Dallas isn't as humid as Houston. :) Your dad is awesome! I am glad he and your girls had so much fun.
